Phosphate treatment of metals or Phosphating, as it is commonly termed in the metal finishing industry has been acclaimed as one of the most useful and effective method for the protection of iron and steel surfaces from atmospheric corrosion. Apart from its anti-rust character, the coating provides an ideal base for an organic finish and as an aid to lubrication. It also prevents wear in sliding or frictional parts. The coating provides myriads of oil reservoirs effective in reducing friction. Such uses of Phosphate coating are commercially very important.

Metochem MN is of Manganese Phosphate type and mainly used for producing corrosion resistant phosphate coating as well as lubricating and wear resistant surface under a dip type system. It produces dark grey coatings of the order of .002 mm for light coatings and .005 mm or more for heavy coatings weighing from 800 mgs per sq.ft. of surface area, to higher than 2,000 mgs per sq.ft. as per desired specifications to meet class A1 coating under I.S. 3618.

METOCHEM ZN-SP (Spray Phosphating Process) DESCRIPTION : METOCHEM ZN-SP process is primarily a new method for phosphating metal surfaces prior to painting utilising a pressure gun or spray nozzles for spraying METOCHEM ZN-SP solution either in cold or hot. The METOCHEM ZN-SP process provides an efficient simple and effective method of cleaning and phosphating of metal surfaces to prepare for paint finishing. USES : METOCHEM ZN-SP process is primarily used on ferrous metals, which are to be subsequently painted. It is suitable for large size metallic sheets, bus bodies, panels, assemblies of vehicle, wheels etc. which are inconvenient to handle and process under dip system. It is also suitable for small components in closed type spray equipments. MAIN OBJECTS & ADVANTAGES : 1. To produce a fine grey zinc phosphate coating of 200-300 mg/sq.ft. 2. Toner is a alkaline based chemical which is used in the process of powder coating and tones the surface of metal. It can be used just adding it to the phosphating chemical and the concentration should be 0-.025%.

METOCHEM-DRP            (METAL CLEANING, ACID ETCHING & PHOSPHATING)
DESCRIPTION: METOCHEM-DRP is a liquid product based on Phosphoric Acid, combined with wetting and emulsifying agents, accelerators and inhibitors.
USES: For simultaneous cleaning, rust and scale removal, and phosphate coating by manual application. This gives very good bonding for paints, lacquers, powder coatings, etc.

APPLICATION:
Room Temperature
A) By Dipping:
Dilute METOCHEM-DRP 1:1 up to 1:6 parts of water in a plastic tank depending on the amount of contamination, oil, soil and rust. Dip parts in this bath for 5-15 minutes.
For faster action a slight swabbing action of the solution on the parts can be done at the time of dipping.

B) By Swabbing: Dilute METOCHEM-DRP 1:2 up to 1:4 parts of water in a plastic tank. This solution can be swabbed on M.S sheets or metal parts thoroughly well and allowed to react for 2 minutes.

POST TREATMENT: On removing the parts treated with METOCHEM-DRP they should be immediately wiped dry with sawdust or a dry clean cloth. Alternatively if swabbing is not convenient then parts should be rinsed in cold water first and then passivated in 0.05% METOCHEM-SEALANT 1 with water at 60 - 70°C and dried immediately by blowing compressed air, or with hot air blower.

NOTE: For removal of heavy rust, it should be applied and rubbed with steel-wool or brush if necessary.

SPECIAL ADVANTAGES: METOCHEM-DRP is unique in cleaning and gives a quick action of phosphating since it contains a balanced grouping of accelerating agents. The accelerators increase cleaning ability many folds and produce phosphate coating up to 50 mgs/sq.ft. which is a very good base for further coating with paint, lacquer or enamel. The following advantages are obtained :
1) Uniform grey Phosphate coating.
2) Complete removal of oily films. (P.T.O.)
3) No immediate rusting after application, since the surface is passivated.
4) No sticky residues.
5) Easy to apply.
6) A good base for painting and it also protects steel against underpaint corrosion. 7) It removes not only rust but also water scale deposits from distillation columns, and other costly equipments made out of steels very effectively without damaging the metal surface.

Our above product is designed for an accelerated process for the combined phosphating and lubrication of carbon steel prior to cold forming applications such as Rod & Wire Drawing Extrusion, Tube Drawing & Pressing Bar & Section Drawing, Pressing etc. It is applicable to both dry and wet drawing. After cold forming, the residual coating forms an excellent anti-corrosive base for paint, varnish oil or other finishing processes.

Advantage: It provides chemically adherent absorbent coating. Faster speed of drawing. Increased tool life. Reduced material breakage and improvement in quality and greater percentage of reduction in cost.

Metochem ZX (65-90/- PER KG)process is operated at higher temperature by dipping method to produce a smooth and continuous fine grain Zinc Phosphate conversion coating. This coating improves adhesion between paints and steel and also protects steel from under-paint corrosion thus enhancing life and durability of paints.

Uses: Metochem ZX process is used on all steel surfaces which are to be painted or powder coated. It is also used on ground and machined components etc. to produce medium to heavy weight zinc phosphate coating which is then sealed with rust preventive such as Metochem Sealant 1. This process is ideally suited to produce dark grey to black phosphate coating on nut bolts and fasteners.

 The METOCHEM-ZN-102-C (65-90/- PER KG) process operated at room temperature produces a fine grain smooth and continuous Zinc Phosphate conversion coating for pre-paint treatment of steel. Applied by dip, it protects the base metal against corrosion and bonds supplementary coatings firmly to the surface.
